  • I've been in to this store several times. I've brought in my busy boys a few times too. Some stores I take my boys in to we get the stink eye. Heaven forbid boys act like boys and not like their in a library constantly. The workers offered help to my sons find something as well to my husband and myself. I was asked many times if there was something we needed. We'll continue to shop here in the future.

I really had no complaints about the store. The selection was fine and I didn't have too many problems finding things. I had no complaints until I went to check out. It was like being interrogated by the CIA. They want your name, your number, your address, your first born, etc. They told me they use the information to look up receipts and for shipping. I wasn't shipping anything and a simple phone number would have done for the receipt look up. Whatever happened to just going into a store and buying things and leaving? I'm not a Christian so I find it disturbing that they need so much information just to buy a book. Next time I will just go to Barnes and Noble. They have a similar selection of things without the unnecessary questions.

Lifeway flame: I think this store is a joke. Over the past +15 years or more that I have called them, they have seldom if EVER had a book or a piece of music that I was needing. This time, I was searching for "The New Testament Documents, Are They Reliable", by F. F. Bruce. Yes, it's an older book, yes it's gone through a few re-printings, but it's a classic work of evangelical and Protestant commentary on Scripture. It's used in seminaries, it's found in many church libraries, most pastors have it on their bookshelves, and it's not as if it eats up a ton of shelf space and would be hard to stock as a thin little book that it is. I'd parted with my college copy and suddenly need it for a meeting next weekend. Weller's Bookworks, which sells both new and used, didn't happen to have a copy, Barnes & Noble doesn't have one on the shelf, a couple friends couldn't be reached, and the online PDF might not have footnotes I wanted to show. I don't hold places like B&N, Borders, Sam Weller to the same standard as I might something called "a Christian bookstore", so I was disappointed but not surprised that they didn't have one. I again (pessimistically) turned to Lifeway even though they're located far across the valley from me. Not only did they not have a copy of it, but the guy said it's never even been in their system. Never been in their system?? What do they sell? Just fluff? They don't carry a significant classic like that? I hope they have a couple Bibles in there at least. Maybe they just sell "trinkets" or refrigerator magnets or any trivial thing that has a dove or a cross on it. Capitalizing on the word "Christian" in a community of disparate faiths just to get people in the door or be able to advertise differently. So annoyed again. Looks like Amazon wins another high-priced delivery order.

  • 1st time in store, 3 seconds in-I'm greeted, I had viewed the web site and had a very narrow/exacting need, the very kind person(s) (more than one hunting the store) that helped me not only searched out exactly what I wanted she then showed me the lay of the land/store. Every topic-department, and the types of products there in. What a great first experience/impression!
